Every youth leader knows that purity is a difficult battle in today's culture. He/she also knows you can't assume that real and lasting change can happen in just one event, one night, one time. Purity is a lifestyle of honoring God with all our thoughts, actions, and words. It is offering our bodies as living sacrifices and daily choosing to serve Christ above everything else.
At SRT, we couldn't agree more. That is why we have developed a strategy to assist you as leaders to walk alongside your students and challenge them in what it means to 'wait.' The Live Events we host around the country offer the inspirational, life-changing moments that define many of our own testimonies. But offered alone, the impact can sometimes fade and a deeper commitment must carry students through the next several years.
The SRT Live Event is central to the missional strategy of our organization. Partnering with churches, organizations and individuals in communities, these events inspire hope, excitement, and transformation in the lives of the students and families attending.
To realize lasting impact, we believe these 5 steps must be present:
 |
Faith
"I can do everything through him who gives me strength." (Ph. 4:13) The power and ability to live out this commitment only comes through faith in Jesus Christ. At each Live Event, SRT clearly communicates the Gospel message and gives students the opportunity to accept Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. |
 |
Family
Parents are the leading influence in their children's sexual decision making according to most studies. At each Live Event, we host a 45 minute Parent's Session that educates parents on current trends, attitudes, and behaviors in today's youth culture and equips them to support and encourage their child's abstinence commitment. |
 |
Friends
"Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken." (Ecc. 4:12) Through our social networking sites and also through the SRT Street Team Program, we advocate accountability and connection to friends of like values and commitment. Our desire is to create positive peer pressure and influence for students desiring to wait. |
 |
Follow-up
Following every Live Event, SRT begins to engage each student who has signed up for our Street Team through weekly emails that encourage and challenge their abstinence commitment. We have also created a program for individual or group study called Project 434 (formerly Get It On) that is a film resource with 4 weeks of teaching and Bible Study. |
 |
Focal Point (A Ring)
The SRT ring is a symbol and reminder of a decision to remain pure until marriage. We don't believe a silver ring makes you pure anymore than a wedding ring makes you married. But this visible reminder calls you back to something greater, something bigger. It emphasizes a lasting vow and commitment before God to agree with and follow His plan for your life. |
